Day 342 and 343 What Kind Of Mickey Mouse Vitamin Is This?

I love having the whole weekend to cook and to spend a little more time on nutrition then I get to spend during the week. Yesterday was kind of a short day but I was still very busy and didn't have time to juice anything. Some days, no matter how hard I try, I cannot get all of my fruits and veggies in. Yesterday was one of those days, I had some but not all of what I needed veggie wise. Today, I started off with four carrots, an apple, a cup of cranberries, and a bowl of steel cut oatmeal. For lunch, I had two bananas, a Greek yogurt, a piece of Swiss cheese, two pieces of Whole grain bread, and two table spoons of peanut butter. For dinner, I'm having Brussels sprouts, baked squash, and corn on the cob. This seems pretty well rounded but I'm still short on Calcium, Iron, and Potassium, even after a multi-vitamin! I think I need a different, higher quality vitamin, as this one only contains 20% requirement for Calcium, and no Iron or Potassium at all....stupid pseudo-gummy supplements.

Day 111 Sassy Fruit

Here's a little how do you do, to a fabulous new discovery, stumbled upon down at the Reasor's Food Market and Grocerteria. First let me say, that it was an extra special discovery since it was free/ in exchange for a favor from a co-worker. Here's hoping she gets high marks in her class for my participation, in said counseling for snacks trade off. Anyway, the fabulous discovery was......wait for it.......dried mangos, covered in sugar and.......wait some more.....chili pepper. Yes, that's right, sugary, spicy, vitamin B loaded, slivers of goodie goodie mango slices. They made my day AND she also bought me honey flavored Greek yogurt, which I dipped the mangos into, creating a volatile and expressive mixture of flaming yumminess, I was in the land of milk and honey...and peppers all at the same time. She wasn't done yet, as I mournfully passed by the frozen food section, denying myself of the Friday's Stuffed Peppers, because this would be a breach of my self imposed contract, my co-worker/food conspirator, suggested I make my own stuffed peppers! Why didn't I think of this before? This weekend, I am going to create my own cheese stuffed Jalapenos and perhaps make a blooming onion while I'm at it. Hmmm, perhaps after I re-create Friday's, I'll take on another cheesy chain store menu...muuuuhahhhhahhhahh, and then the world!

Day 24 You're Not the Boss Of Me, McClown!

Today, I would like nothing more, than to plant my face in a McFlurry and let the candy toppings rain down upon my head but I am strong and I will not fail on this, my 24th day. Today, life was a little out of my control, I could not negotiate the cost of the new starter for my car, I had absolutely no input in the temperature outside, and I did NOT plan the headache fun fair in my skull, but I was in control of one thing. I decided what to put into my body, despite my ice cream cravings and onion ring dreams. I know that no matter what goes on around me, I always have the choice to make a good decision for myself. I know that Ronald McDonald is not going to push my wheel chair, if I over do it on the sugar and lose a leg to Diabetes and the CEO of Coca-Cola is not going to buy me a new fatter pair of jeans. I am the only person responsible for my health and well being and as much as I would like to blame it on Ben and Jerry, it's just not up to them.
On to other things, this morning, I ate the fruit, a banana, no drama to report except, I am on the look out for a new blender, as my old one sprang a leak and I much prefer fruit in frosty frozen juice form. Tonight was a Greek yogurt and left over squash night, maybe tomorrow will be a tad more exciting, not every night can be a recipe worthy of a Rachel Ray episode.

Day 10 I'm on a Homeade Roll Now

Well, it's day 10 of this journey called deprivation but oddly, I do not feel deprived, I feel really great! I'm pretty sure my pants are a little looser too! In two weeks, I'm going to Old Navy to try on a size 14 jeans, just for ha ha's, we'll see what happens. For lunch today, I had tabouli, Greek yogurt, and a string cheese, and I drank Green tea concoction all day. Last night I invented a little something I like to call Jamaican Honey tea, not bad, the Cayenne in it kept me warm all day. Tonight I made Mushroom Stroganoff, which I will add to the recipes later. If by some miracle we get snowed in overnight, maybe I'll make some rice pudding tomorrow to keep myself busy. Oh, I also created a recipe for achy muscles last night, but I can't tell you what's in it, I may want to patent it and pimp it out later. http://www.fastfoodboycott.blogspot.com/
