Day 66 Old Navy VS. The Value Meal

Today, I discovered that my former expenditures on fast food and soda, have been replaced by Old Navy. I'm so excited that I can buy smaller sizes that I now have smaller sizes in many different colors and prints. I have pants, I have shirts, I have more pants, and lots more shirts. Trading in cheese fries for 2 pairs of cords is totally worth it. Why didn't I think of this before? One week of sodas adds up to five 5.00 t-shirts and a pair of jeans is about 7 days worth of egg and cheese breakfast value meals at McDonald's. I feel rich, I feel slightly thinner, and I feel pretty flipping great right now. Sigh.....I also found a great new water bottle today, so that I don't have to schlep from one building to another, filling tiny cups with Culligan water (my office does not have a sink). I like my water habit, it's pretty much always free, I don't have to stand in line to get it, I don't have to exchange germs with fast food employees to quench my thirst, it just works out really well for me! Not to mention, water won't cause a sugar stroke, allowing me to drink till my heart is full without going blind or losing a kidney. Since giving up soda, I've cut about 1000 calories a day by drinking water,  diet soda is worse for your body health wise, so I would not event think of switching, water is safer. I think everyone reading this should look at what you're drinking right now and trade it in for some aqua.....do it!

Day 58 Double Bonus Small Pants Day

I've been saying it for awhile, my pants are getting looser and I've been meaning to make a trip to Old Navy. I wanted to wait until the end of month two, just to be certain, so today, I went, I tried, I bought a size 14. This may not seem small to some of you, and honestly, I kind of like being rounded, but nonetheless, I have dropped a pant size. I have done this by dropping soda and fast food and adding more vegetable dishes to my life, that's it. I buy normal stuff at the grocery, but do try to go with fresh foods instead of processed, (I do not always stick to this). I ate what I wanted at the office potluck, including cupcakes, I do not feel deprived in any way, in fact I feel well fed and well nourished. When I feed myself well, I do not have a need for junko. Tonight, I am having vegetable and cream cheese stuffed portabella mushrooms and leftover homemade mac and cheese. I do not count calories, fat, or carbs, I'm just trying to keep everything I eat balanced and diverse and it seems to be working! Today, I went to Whole Foods and was lost in a sea of "trendy" people, looking for whatever trendy people look for in a grocery store, when I noticed the man in front of me in the check out line. The counter was piled with weight management bars, boxes of them, and nothing else. He had so many that the total came to 196.00 I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was taking them to a third world country, where obesity is a problem? I don't know, but I did find it kind of strange, that here we were, in a store full of beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables, everything you needed to feed your body properly, and he was buying 196.00 worth of probably healthy but very one dimensional processed food. To each his own, I guess, I just find it frustrating to see willful ignorance regarding health and wellness in this country....then again, it was only two months ago, that I was one of them.

Day 14 This Has To Be A Record

Today was monumental in many different ways, the most relative being that I have made it 2 full weeks without so much as a single fast food SNAFU (look it up). I have not once fudged on soda or caved for a Mexidip and chips combo, my willpower is unstoppable! Second, my mom told me to pull my pants up, which means that they are falling down, which means..........a trip to Old Navy for a smaller pair? We shall explore this possibility tomorrow. Third, I LOVE this Serene herb stuff, I am so very serene and have not been at all anxious or annoyed all day. Ususally on the way to work or home or, well anywhere on the road, I scream kind words at other motorists and shake my happy fist at them, today, nothing but smiles and friendly nods. Oh no, what if the firey side of my personality is gone forever? How will I put the kibash down on rotten children and their parents? Perhaps subtle manipulation will have to work instead. All in all, this has been a great two weeks, I feel like I have more energy, not as sluggish, and I feel like I'm doing something really good for myself, this is going to be my year!  http://www.fastfoodboycott.blogspot.com/

Day 10 I'm on a Homeade Roll Now

Well, it's day 10 of this journey called deprivation but oddly, I do not feel deprived, I feel really great! I'm pretty sure my pants are a little looser too! In two weeks, I'm going to Old Navy to try on a size 14 jeans, just for ha ha's, we'll see what happens. For lunch today, I had tabouli, Greek yogurt, and a string cheese, and I drank Green tea concoction all day. Last night I invented a little something I like to call Jamaican Honey tea, not bad, the Cayenne in it kept me warm all day. Tonight I made Mushroom Stroganoff, which I will add to the recipes later. If by some miracle we get snowed in overnight, maybe I'll make some rice pudding tomorrow to keep myself busy. Oh, I also created a recipe for achy muscles last night, but I can't tell you what's in it, I may want to patent it and pimp it out later. http://www.fastfoodboycott.blogspot.com/
