Day 242 So Long Candy Corns and Cuppy Cakes

Today was a really long day, most of it at the courthouse for work, so I was really inspired to get my mom to make me food when it was all over. My mom makes the best pimento cheese ever and then constructs out of the pimento cheese, the best sandwiches ever, she also makes pretty good iced tea, which I also had on this squelchering hot day. For dinner, I had egg salad, I just couldn't swallow another spoonful of beans or mashed potatoes, maybe tomorrow. Last night, I was woken up by a thought that I should stop eating sugar, soooo I guess I'm gonna do that, since I already have the Diabetes. This probably includes cuppy cakes and candy corns, I'm so sad! OK, I'm committed, no sugar, no juice, no sweets, I shall eat brown bread and brown rice and probably some other brown colored health food. I may as well end this challenge with a bang and additional constrictive rules, otherwise, what's the fun of 365 days of no fast food, if I'm not going to live until I'm 140?

Day 199 Super Secret Casual Observer Makes Dinner

Ahhh, the best moment of my day, hands down is the moment I ease into my overstuffed leather chair, Naugahyde would never be this inviting or this comfy. Today was a pretty long day and my bowl of mashed potatoes was just lovely and made lovelier, as I was sitting in my chair when I ate them. I had a super long appointment at the end of the day and was literally about to chew my own arm off because I was so hungry. Now, that dinner is over, It's time to re-evaluate my life. I'm considering a new career as a private investigator, I think I would be especially good at it because I'm so good at being casual in a room full of chaos, in fact I'm on a mission right now and I'm sure you couldn't even tell. I wish that I could tell you of my super secret work, but I cannot, so I will tell you this, today I found a recipe I had saved on my computer for fried zucchini patties, perhaps if I have time this week I will attempt to make them. Perhaps I will need them for a stakeout snack later in the week. Stay tuned for more mystery and gluttony.

Day 161 The Peppers Are Poppin'

So today, I took the day off in order to work in the office, I know that doesn't make sense. Where I work I have to use a personal day if I want to get paperwork done or have an "office day". If I don't, I am expected to reach a productivity goal, so I took a personal day. During my "free time" today, I contemplated the dilemma of my work sponsored celebration and the fact that it's in a restaurant. When it comes down to it, I will know that I did not complete my mission, at 364 days instead of 365. At this point, I am not going to eat with my team, but I will go with them and will at least get to participate in the games and stuff. Things may change in the next few weeks or so, the outing is July 1. but as of now, this is my decision.
I don't have much in the works tonight, just going to read a book I found at the used book store and perhaps have some mashed potatoes in a while. Tomorrow, I'm going to pick up our first squash and pepper pick, at my mom's. She says that the cayenne peppers are popping out and the squash are a little small, but this is just the beginning. She says, the more you pick, the more will continue to replace them, so I may be having squash for dinner tomorrow! Depending on how many peppers, I have, I may make salsa before the weekend is over, woo hoo!

Day 97 KFC VS. Me

Tonight we celebrate a family's graduation from our services, which usually includes fast food. We buy the food, the family eats the food, and in the old days, I would eat as well, not so tonight. They have requested KFC vegetables and a pizza. Let me just say, that I LOVE KFC's side dishes. I love the mashed potatoes, I love the corn on the cob, the biscuits, the mac & cheese, love it all. Tonight, I will comfort myself with visions of grocery store excursions, which will take place later tonight. I'm dreaming of gallons of milk, loaves of bread, bags of lettuce....nope, not the same thing, perhaps I should attempt to re-create a KFC meal in my kitchen tonight. Yes, that's exactly what I plan to do. I will bake the biscuits and boil the corn, YES I will! Let us not forget the beans and the tater babies, if only I could re-create tater babies, but I think the chain has the corner market on those precious spears of potato love.
Dinner dreams aside, for lunch today, I made some fabulous guacamole, right here at my desk, complete with lime juice and everything, who needs a kitchen, when you have a fairly clean desk? I now have leftover limes, not sure what to do with those? Maybe some sort of beverage..hmmmm? Perhaps key lime pie is in my future? Who knows, I just know I'm eating well tonight!
