This is going to be the best week ever, I get my car back, I get to grocery shop, and my new co-worker may surface sometime soon, can't wait! Today was the most beautiful, productive day ever, I cleaned my entire house, caught up on some work work, and made plans for this week. The weather is gorgeous, I wish it would stay like this forever, it's like Fall already!!! On the food front, I can't say that there's much going on there, I walked to the little complex store today and bought apple juice, it was the best apple juice I've ever had, after drinking nothing but water for the past few days. Tomorrow will be tricky, I have ten dollars left before payday and I'm rapidly running out of bread, I've been saving the last of the pasta, which should last me through tomorrow night and then I will be home free again. I need everything, I'm out of oil, butter, flour, sugar, milk, cereal, everything. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, should a person really be this excited about shopping for staples? My step dad's birthday is this week and my mom is making Whoopee pies, whatever those are, I won't be eating any, as I'm trying not to consume obvious sweets like cakes and cookies, I hope I can hold out!

Day 204 Peanut Butter Is My Final Answer
I'm feeling pretty lazy right now, I need to clean out my refridgerator before I go to the grocery store and I would almost rather starve. So, here I sit, unwilling to do the deed in the kitchen and my stomach is growling. I keep trying to justify getting the groceries and just sticking them in there, but that's gross and they would never fit. My other option is to once again have biscuits for dinner, thus eliminating my need to even leave the house. I don't know, it's such a crap shoot. PERHAPS, I could only buy pantry items, and live on those until I dig up the motivation to scrub the crisper out. The other issue is that I have lost an essential vegetable cutting knife, somewhere in the fridge and I must at some point dive in to find it....I'm surely not the only human to have ever lost a kitchen tool in this way.
OK, I'm going to compromise and promise myself to clean it out tomorrow and will buy peanut butter and bread tonight and perhaps a can of tomato soup to make things fancy. There it is settled, procrastination at it's best.

Day 83 I Don't Need Your Fancy Pants Subway Sandwich Anyway
Today, I was again completely ill prepared, I sat in two different restaurants, one for a meeting, one for a celebration and I ate nothing. First of all, I didn't eat breakfast this morning, because of time and spent the better part of the morning, trying to hide the jumbo jet hunger noises, coming from my tummy. The first meeting was in a Subway, everyone had big fluffy sandwiches and chips and soda, some of the dirty, rotten eaters actually moaned as they ate. I watched tiny bits of vegetables fall to the paper, a sliver of cheese here, a little drizzle of dressing there, all on fresh baked bread, so wrong. Afterward, I forced my co-worker to stop so that I could get some crackers and juice, she did and I was fine, until dinner at least. My brother's chosen birthday dinner was a place called Coney Connection, a place so full of greasy goodness and fried righteousness, that I almost gave in. My mom offered to buy me an iced tea, I'm proud to say that I also turned that down as well. We're having a real celebration this weekend, with homemade desserts and whatever else my mom whips up, I'm psyched to be a part of this multi-day, double bonus, home cooked, birthday salsabration.
In other gastronomical news, I may or may not have been poisoned yesterday, perhaps on purpose or maybe on accident. All I know is that I was really digging some homemade banana bread someone brought to work, when all of sudden, it turned bitter, like aspirin bitter. I spit it out but was still not convinced that I had ingested enough of the tainted treat and took another bite, which was even worse. I'm not dead, but if it's a slow working poison, the remains are in a wad of aluminum foil in the trash can underneath my desk...just so you know.

Day 34 The Cake That Saved Me
Today, I woke up mad. I was mad at the snow, mad at my boss, mad at my dwindling bottle of shampoo, just upside down, rabid monkey angry. So, I strapped on my old lady, anti-slip, sneaker covers for ice travel and headed out in search of happiness. I made it to the little convenience store three parking lots over and was overjoyed to find them open for business. I felt like an orphan who finds her long lost parents, after years of eating gruel. The shelves didn't have much but I was enthralled by every single cellophane wrapped treasure. I nodded hello at my old friends in the soda isle and moved on, so much history, it was hard not to stop and catch up. As I weighed my options and corralled the temptations, I saw it, it was a plain yellow Betty Crocker cake mix, yellow happiness for 1.99! I looked at the required ingredients, oil, eggs, water, check, check, and check. I raced to the check out line, giddy at the thought of one more day of sustenance in my snow filled world. I handed the man my debit card...... sorry, he says, no purchases under 3.00 with a card. I stopped, I stared, please I whispered, I really need this cake! I fluttered my eyelashes, tried to look seductive in my mounds of snow garb. OK, he said, this time I'll do it, but next time....Yes, yes, thank you kind stranger, thank you. Like a raccoon with a tasty piece of garbage, I hurried home with my loot and set to work. The store was out of icing so I invented my own by mixing mocha latte coffee mix with butter and melting it into a chocolate glaze. I also added a chopped up pear to the cake mix, the icing worked, the pear did not. All in all the cake was super delicious and just what I needed to cheer myself up, while waiting for rescue. Hopefully tomorrow I can go to a real grocery store for fruit and vegetables, maybe I won't catch the scurvy before then.
