Day 77 Among Theives And Chaos An Eggroll Was Born

Today, in the middle of chaos, I made a very yummy little something. I'm not sure what to call this little something, but it started out with scrambled eggs and mushrooms; I added the chipolte vegetable mix of corn, sweet potatoes, black beans, bell peppers and onions in a pan. All of the forks were in the dishwasher, so I had to find another route to my belly that didn't involve utensils. Miracle of all miracles, I found egg roll wrappers in the fridge. There was too much mix for the number of wrappers so, I had to stuff it all into just three. The stuffage did not allow for proper wrapping so, I just kind of folded them up like presents and rubbed some oil on them. I baked them until they were crispy and I have to say, they were pretty darn good! The next couple of days will be a little dicey as I'm running out of groceries and I can't get to the store, being sans car at the moment. I have plenty of peanut butter and lots more eggs, so I'm sure I won't starve, but I may need to get a little creative...peanut butter omelet anyone? I also have a ton of trail mix, perhaps I could make cookies, it has everything a good cookie should have, nuts, M&M's, and raisins....there should never be a debate as to my collection of survival skills.
I have to believe that tomorrow will be much better than today, here's hoping for a full pantry, a running vehicle, and the return of my stolen pooper scooper.

Day 46 IHOP Into The Kitchen To Make Breakfast

The best thing about my day, today, was the roasted squash I had for breakfast...that's right, I had squash for breakfast! I woke up with plenty of time to spare, an aging yellow squash in the fridge, and the realization that today was going to be a very long day, with little time for lunch, so I made squash. I sliced it, tossed it in olive oil and Italian breadcrumbs and stuck it in the oven, it roasted while I dried my hair. I don't think there's anything wrong with vegetables for breakfast, it's certainly healthier than Crunchable smack jacks with marshmallows and chocolate covered sugar cubes. While I was growing up, I always preferred a sandwich or leftovers from the night before, to muffins or sugary cereal for breakfast. In my quest for how the rest of the world eats breakfast, I discovered www.mrbreakfast.com which is devoted to nothing but the preparation of the first meal of the day. I found a universe of recipes for omelets, quiche, scrambles, and souffles. I have to say, that I am most intrigued by the chili onion oatmeal, once again, an alternative option to a food that is traditionally sweet, I can't wait to try that one. There's even a section on crock pot breakfasts, where I found crock pot Omelet casserole, I love breakfast! One early morning recipe I can't quite wrap my mind around, is beans and toast...I don't get it, beans are good, toast is good, but I think never the two should meet. I think tomorrow I will start my day with a whimsical sounding recipe, Eggs Piperade, basically a garlic and bell pepper omelets, I just like the name, sounds like a fun way to start the day. Eat your veggies...for breakfast!

Day 13 Where Is That Smell Coming From?

Today, faced with the task of spending my evening in the home of a client, I find none too clean, I decided to take control of my germ panic and schlepped off to the health food store. I went looking for Kava Kava, which is a herb for anxiety, turns out Kava Kava screws with your liver or something. The nice lady running the store, pointed me in the direction of something called Theanine Serene, Ya, I don't know either, I just bought it. I of course wasted no time in choking down two giant tablets and waited for the serenity to begin. It was only about 30 minutes before I stopped caring about roaches and head lice, smooth sailing, but soon I caught a whiff of....dentist office? Where the hell is that smell coming from, it's so strong, I think someone must be in the back seat, smoking a clove cigarette. Then I realize, it's me, it's coming from my skin, I smell all spicy, like a toothache pack....this will not do. I am home and a few hours past the initial pill popping, I still smell, I can't get rid of it, I may have to soak in lemon juice or vinegar? I don't know! On another note, I made the most perfect omelet ever, tonight, I am a smelly genius. http://www.fastfoodboycott.blogspot.com/
