Day 272 Ain't No Doughnut Gonna Take Me Down

Today, I had the opportunity to come face to face with my one weakness, pastries. I love doughnuts more than I love most people and today, I had to pick up food for someone, only to be faced with long johns, fritters, and cinnamon rolls, they smelled like what I imagine angels to smell like. I didn't of course have any of the glaze covered beauties , I stuck to my usual lunch, a hummus sandwich, a granola bar, and a spicy V8. Tonight, I had a salad, with a ton of roasted garlic and butternut squash, it was fantabulus and my breath smells like a big ol bulb of stinking rose, good thing I live solo. Tomorrow is the Tulsa State fair and I'm not going, the only reason to go is for the food and that's out of the question, so I'm staying here, to catch up on paperwork, blah. Perhaps I'll treat myself to a new book, if I complete my neverending stack of stupid.

Day 124 Carrots and Ginger and Garlic Oh My

Soooo happy that today is over, the first part of auditing preparation is complete, still a long way to go though. For tonight, however, with part one done, my appetite is back! Once again, I did not take time for lunch today, but for dinner I had a really gigantic salad, with lots of stuff in it. I also found two new salad dressings, one good, one not good even a little bit. First let me say,  I'm sure I have made my feelings about carrots known, but I thought I would try the carrot ginger dressing and shockingly, I loved it! It did not taste at all like carrots, which I initially feared, since it is in fact made from them. The second dressing was a surprise and a disappointment, avocado Vinaigrette, I did not prefer it at all, way too tangy, blecht! So betrayed by my friend the avocado. The best thing about my salad was the roasted garlic, I ate like fifteen cloves and I smell like sunshine, just in case anyone is curious. As I was driving home today, I thought of a recipe in my head for a tortilla casserole. I imagine it would be a mixture of beans, cheese, corn, and enchilada sauce, with strips of corn tortillas layered in a dish...I think it sounds fabulous and I'm going to make it soon. That is all, long live my garlic breath that I may scare away  muggers and mean dogs.

Day 98 Blessed Bullbs of Stink Breath

MMMMhmmmm, Friday is homemade pizza night, I almost bought a frozen one at Wal-mart but changed my mind at the last second. Instead, I had a cheese pizza with roasted garlic; I love garlic roasted and otherwise. Someday, I hope to go back to San Francisco to eat at the Stinking Rose restaurant, I’ve studied their menu and must try everything, including; I’m not ashamed to admit, pork. They have some sort of pig, raised on garlic, stuffed with garlic, and otherwise just jam packed and cooked with garlic. That’s right, I would eat a pig, if it contained a hogs worth of garlic goodness. This menu is amazing; I think I even saw garlic ice cream as a choice. If we all ate that much garlic, we would probably be healthier for it. Garlic is good for lots of stuff and if I could find my lost herb book, I would list all of them right now. One winter, I ate garlic every day and never had a cold that season, amazing stuff. Roasting is really easy, just peel the papery stuff off and cover the pods in olive oil, place them in the oven until soft and fragrant and eat them in salad, on pizza, antipasta, whatever peels your banana, and don’t worry about your breath, garlic gives you a brilliant personality.
