Day 248 Fizzy Yogurt, That Ain't Right

Oh my sheesh-a-loo, how long does it take to fix a car? Now that they have the first 1000.00, I guess they think they can take their time....so ready to be able to drive again. Today, I had grapes and cheese, and apple juice that smelled like jailhouse wine and after that a giant jug of Keifer. My mom was kind enough to make white cheddar pimento cheese and to fashion me a sandwich on the hood of her car, she also brought me the Keifer. The sandwich I ate on the way to an appointment, but had to lug the jug of gut tonic around to two different schools, before finally stowing it in my office fridge. How am I supposed to drink a liter of yogurt? It was also a little fizzy and I can't really figure that one out. Oh well, I am grateful to have had lunch and to have been home almost before it hit my belly. Tomorrow is another day, this time it will end in a trip to the market, hooray!!

Day 247 What In The Woot Woot Is A Whoopie Pie

This is going to be the best week ever, I get my car back, I get to grocery shop, and my new co-worker may surface sometime soon, can't wait! Today was the most beautiful, productive day ever, I cleaned my entire house, caught up on some work work, and made plans for this week. The weather is gorgeous, I wish it would stay like this forever, it's like Fall already!!! On the food front, I can't say that there's much going on there, I walked to the little complex store today and bought apple juice, it was the best apple juice I've ever had, after drinking nothing but water for the past few days. Tomorrow will be tricky, I have ten dollars left before payday and I'm rapidly running out of bread, I've been saving the last of the pasta, which should last me through tomorrow night and then I will be home free again. I need everything, I'm out of oil, butter, flour, sugar, milk, cereal, everything. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, should a person really be this excited about shopping for staples? My step dad's birthday is this week and my mom is making Whoopee pies, whatever those are, I won't be eating any, as I'm trying not to consume obvious sweets like cakes and cookies, I hope I can hold out!

Day 246 Frittata Daydreams

I'm so bored, I'm back to reading cookbooks and day dreaming about the day I can leave my house to go to the grocery store. I have at least a full day, and depending on how I get to work on Tuesday, it's a toss up on actually stepping into a grocery store. So, here's what I found in my Mediterranean Food of The Sun Cookbook, Greek spinach pie, a potato and onion tortilla, and Moroccan vegetable soup, I can't decide what I'll want to make first. Maybe the weather will have started to cool off by the time I re-emerge into the world and I can bust out the soup? I keep running across recipes for dishes with courgette and I have no idea what this is, I think I need to do a little research because the sweet pepper and courgette frittata looks amazing, I heart any type of frittata. So, I was cleaning out my cabinets today and I found a variety of beans, (in addition to the nine bags of white beans left in my cabinet), that I had originally used in art projects. They are really pretty with speckles and lovely colors, I think I'll soak them and make bean pies with them tomorrow, I really can't eat another pancake or peanut butter sandwich. Here's to better days and a full pantry!

Day 245 Breaking Out The Squash Stash

Today, I have done nothing and I mean......nothing. I watched part of a movie, read part of a book, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, turned on the dishwasher and that's about it. I'm trying to conjure up creative things to do with freezer squash from the garden, green beans, and baking mix. I have a little bit of oil left, so I guess I could use the baking mix to fry the squash and have some green beans and pasta made with garden tomato sauce? Ya that sounds pretty good, I cannot wait to have my car back and to get to get past this pay period, where every cent went to two stupid head gaskets. I'm looking at this as a good opportunity to re-focus my food challenge energy for a turbo boost at the end. My mom says yesterday how she couldn't wait for this thing to be over so that we could go to Cherry Berry for frozen yogurt, I'm with ya ma! One thing I have decided not to go back to is soda, it's like I've finally kicked a nasty habit and January 1st will be my out of soda rehab day, so I'm saying hells no!

Day 243 and 244 Damn Sammiches

I have never been so happy to see a three day weekend... ever. As soon as I finish up my paperwork and clean the house, and about eleventy-billion other things, I'm going to take a really long nap. I may not wake up all weekend, I haven't decided yet. Yesterday was not great, I had pancakes for dinner, not because I love pancakes but because there was nothing else to eat and not because I didn't have money for food, but because I could not get to the grocery store. While my car is in the shop, I have dreaded asking people for rides, it's the worst feeling in the universe! So, yesterday I felt so bad that my boss had to take me home, that I asked her to let me off about 1/2 mile from my house so that she would not be late to where she was going, it was quite the journey. Today, my mom loaned me her car so that I could get around and actually do my job and I was able to go to the grocery store! I am in no position to buy a butt load of groceries so I  bought, the fluffiest, softest loaf of bread for to make peanut butter and jelly sammies with. We are down to the culinary nubs here world, here's hoping good food and unrelenting joy is around the next corner!
