Day 290 and 291 Rocking the Sprouts

Oh my, I've just eaten my weight in Brussels sprouts and mushrooms! I ate like a pound and a half for only about 150 calories, good thing I got all of my fats in earlier today. I have discovered that there is just no way to eat all of your vegetables in a day, unless you juice them, it's too much to eat! Yesterday was an unplanned eating day and it did not go as well as usual, which means that I cannot ever NOT be vigilant about what I put in my mouth. I didn't eat badly, I just didn't get enough to eat and I'm really trying to eat three meals a day. The good news is that I have lost 12 pounds in the past few weeks, go me! I guess I'll try for another eight pounds and see if I want to continue. Also, since I've been eating really clean lately, my nails are growing, which is weird because I can never grow my nails out. Here's to loose jeans and clean food!

Day 273 and 274 Fruity Kind Of Weekend

This has been the shortest weekend on record! I have been working non-stop, taking care of business, and trying to eat right. For the most part I think I've done pretty good and I've been super productive. Yesterday I bought the best fruit and that's what I had for dinner, along with brussell sprouts, yep mango, grapes, and brussell sprouts, don't judge, they were delicious.
Today I weighed and I really do prefer my grandmother's scales to my mom's because hers say I've lost 10 pounds as opposed to the five at my mom's. I've been so busy today that I haven't had much time to eat, I'm going to be working until bedtime and then up at 5:00 to get ready for the week, it's only Sunday and I'm exhausted.

Day 270 and 271 Winter Garden Coming Soon

Today, I discovered a little surprise, my mom planted more squash after the heat wave and I picked some for dinner! Yesterday and today, I have continued my portion controlled madness and I'm not even hungry! In fact, I weighed at my mom's house earlier and I've lost 3 pounds! Yesterday I was vigilant and stopped myself before going out the door, without breakfast, planning ahead helps greatly. Tonight, before my squash picking adventure, I stopped by the grocery store because I was craving brussel sprouts, so I had those with the squash. I just cut everything up, drizzled a little oil, sprinkled some garlic pepper, and wrapped it in aluminum foil, it was seriously the best dinner I've had in awhile, not kidding. So, it's almost Fall and I've talked my mom into planting a winter garden, garlic, brussel sprouts, carrots, and I don't know what else, but I'm excited, I love growing stuff! Stay tuned for more veggie adventures.

Day 144 and 145 Windy Nachos

OK, I'm back on, after having lost blog spot, somewhere in the blogosphere, last night and earlier today. Well, here's the scoop, last night, while awaiting the tornadoes, I made some wind themed nachos. No, they did not include beans, I simply made them, while monitoring the weather. I ate my windy nachos, while sitting in the bathtub with my 100 lb. dog, Lucy. My dog is very compliant, when nachos are involved. After a while, we got tired of sitting in the bathtub, listening to emergency sirens and went outside to view the production. I have to say, it wasn't much of a show, but being an Oklahoman, this is how we do it.
Tonight, there's not much of anything going on, so I had a pretty calm avocado sandwich, to commemorate the nothingness of the day, later I had some cereal and some popcorn, seriously, not much blipping on the radar here. Perhaps tomorrow will flow with milk and honey, or at least an exotic fruit or two. Actually, tomorrow, I'm taking another run at the old brussell sprouts, this time I plan to marinate them in a super secret concoction, which I may or may not reveal, depending on how they turn out...I got nothing else.

Day 25 Don't Be Shy, It's Just A Brussel Sprout

Last spring, I traveled home to Kentucky for a wedding and never expected to meet the love of my life, I was blown away the instant we met, and tonight, we meet again. Roasted Brussel sprouts, slightly crispy, salty, sweet, buttery magic. They were literally the best thing I've ever eaten but I've been a little hesitant to make them for myself, because I know they won't compare to the precious baby cabbages, I ate at 732 Social. Tonight I am going to attempt my own version but I am even at this moment stalling in the face of this reunion... I'm a little shy. I am also making cauliflower "potatoes" and marinated mushrooms. I just learned about the cauliflower thing and am really happy that there is an alternative to the starchy wonderlove of potatoes, apparently you can just moosh them up and add milk and butter and whatever else and they taste the same! We'll see, it's worth a try. The mushrooms are old hat, easy, and good with everything, a nice way to round out a meal. These three vegetables came to about 5.00 at the grocery store! That's like two or three days worth of lunch and dinner, for less than a value meal, Score!
I have to say that I learned something else really good this week, one of my families took their kids off of soda and have seen some pretty significant behavior changes in a very short amount of time. See, I'm not making it up! Fancy brown soda water is bad, water is good!
